I knew in October of 2018 that Matt was in trouble during a phone call, when he told me in a cheerful voice that he had been to the ER for “mental health reasons” but was “fine.” In October 2019, during Matt’s move to a new apartment, I observed that Matt was emotionally paralyzed, unable to pack from lack of sleep.

I always wanted and still want to help children and adolescents who are going through the things I went through when I was at their age. The doctor gave me an injection and also placed me on Risperdal, which had side effects such as overeating, excessive sleeping, bloating and agitation.

My sister took antidepressants and my family has a lot of mental health issues, so based on that, I was thrown into the same category. I started talking fast, coming up with ideas and creative projects and I stopped sleeping. They said if I didn’t go to sleep they would make me. And they did. I was angry.
