Mental health care is under the control of powerful entities: the profession of psychiatry, drug companies, NIMH, primary care doctors, and insurance companies. The STAR*D study, published in 2006, is the largest and most expensive study ever done to determine the effectiveness of drug treatments for depression. That has not happened.
